Walk status: Off-lead
Te Kauwhata is a small town located in north Waikato. Despite its size and small population, theres a dedicated fenced dog park there! George and I used it as our last stretch of the legs on a New Plymouth to Auckland roadie.
It's not a large park, but a decent size for a run around or a ball toss or two. We visited in mid September and the ground was quite soft, so I imagine this isn't the best spot to visit in the wet months unless you're prepared to get really muddy.
George was also under attack by some birds that must have been protecting a nest nearby, so just watch out for the local wildlife who have made their home here.
The park is completely fenced, with gates giving access from both roads. It is wide square fencing though, so not suitable for small houdini's.
Location: 32 Mahi Road, Te Kauwhata
Things to know:
There are toilets here.
Only a small area of dedicated parking, but plenty on the surrounding streets.
